Author's Notes: This came to me as I was sitting on the stoop this Sunday morning watching the sunrise and drinking hot chocolate. I hadn't gone to sleep still awake despite being awaken by the two kids arguing over who got to watch what cartoons and where before 8 am the day before (Saturday). So I found an extension cord ran it across the front room upstairs (split level house) and sat on the stoop and wrote. Tiztahw Tadooh for the beta.

Saturday Night, Sunday Morning Traditions

"What channel now?" Daniel asked lazily stretching his tall frame out on the couch.

"What time is it, DanielJackson?" Teal'c asked, coming out of his light state of keel-no-reem

"It's 0500. Who ever has the clicker turn it to 49 please," Jack answered from where he was hanging off the side of his recliner.

" Awww no, come on not 49," Daniel whined, waving the remote in the air with one hand covering his face with the other.

"Daniel, it's tradition. One that you started by the way," I say, returning from starting the coffee in the kitchen and snatching the remote as I pass by.

"I'm beginning to rethink this one though." He gave an overly dramatic groan but his eyes twinkled.

"Hush, Daniel!" Both the Colonel and I respond tossing pillows at him. Daniel laughs and Teal'c I swear gave a small grin.

I don't know why we have kept doing this. It started by accident when the Colonel was still in the infirmary after our side trip to Antarctica. Janet called on a Saturday afternoon and said that the Colonel was sort of depressed and starting to go stir crazy. His mind was active but his body was still far from it. So Daniel, Teal'c, and I came to the rescue with some help from Siler we commandeered a TV and VCR and a cable hook up. Spent the night watching movies and talking about nothing much. We watched three movies and at 0500, we were all still awake. Flipping the channels, we finally stopped on Nickelodeon watching a funky cartoon called Animaniacs. We spent a lot of time explaining things to Teal'c but it was fun.

We did the same thing the next weekend. And it sorta of became tradition. Every Saturday night that we can all stay up all night watch movies and Animaniacs at 0500. Of course, things have changed since the first two or three times. Someone always cooks dinner now. Usually at the Colonel's house since he has the biggest place. And now we sit on the deck and watch the sunrise.

Saturday night we forget about everything that is going on at the SGC. It's just four good friends having a good time like normal people. Janet has even lets us do this in the infirmary sometimes.

I look at each of my teammates carefully. Daniel, despite his earlier griping, is thoroughly enjoying it. The Colonel is explaining something to Teal'c who catches on real quick. A small grin spreads across his face as comprehension dawns.

I can't help but laugh my self as the Warners, Yakko, Wakko, and Dot are signing at an ice cream parlor that has appeared in the middle of their retelling of Pocahontas. John Smith tells Yakko that that part wasn't in the movie and The Colonel completely loses it this time. Yakko tells him that he knows but they got hungry. Then the Colonel just loses it as the Warners throw ice cream at the two English guys that were in the ice cream parlor earlier.

"What?" The Colonel asks innocently when he notices that we are all looking at him.

"What's so funny, Jack? They were just throwing ice cream at the English," Daniel asked swinging his legs over the side of the couch and sitting up right.

"The 1812 Overture. 'These are the oats that shot from guns'?" The Colonel said giving us exasperated looks.

"I do not understand what you speak of O'Neill"

"Neither do I," I add, leaning forward arms resting on my knees.

"Make me feel old here." The Colonel paused giving us a slightly dirty look as he retracted the foot rest and sitting up in his recliner "Many, many moons ago there was a Quaker Oats commercial they played the 1812 Overture and said "There are the oats that shot from guns. I think they even fired oats from cannons but I can't remember exactly."

"Only you Jack would know that," Daniel said laughing, ducking the pillow that Colonel O'Neill lobbed at him, as he laughed as well- his eyes sparkling.

"If we do not make haste we will miss the sunrise O'Neill," Teal'c announced, gesturing to the large picture windows.

"You're right Teal'c. Com'on kids." The Colonel rose to his feet. "Carter, help me with the coffee?"

"Sure Colonel," I answer, joining him.

I had started the coffee before the Animaniacs came one so that it would be ready. It's another thing that we have to do. Drink coffee or hot chocolate together as we watch the sun rise. And when it's over we all make breakfast. Or at least attempt to, sometimes we have huge messes. Like when the Colonel was making biscuits for biscuits and gravy. Daniel turned the mixer on a little too high right as Colonel O'Neill added the flour. Both the Colonel and Daniel as well as a portion of the kitchen were covered in flour. Teal'c took a picture of it. We all have a copy of it and one of me and Daniel covered in tomato puree after I forgot to put the lid on top of the blender before turning it on.

"Come on, Carter!" I'm shaken out of my reverie by the Colonel's call as he leaves the kitchen.

Shaking my head I join the boys on the deck. I can't help but laugh as I hear Daniel and Colonel O'Neill playfully arguing over where they are going to sit. The Colonel gives up and sets on the deck railing instead.

The sunrise was beautiful. All the colours of the rainbow shined in the earlier morning light. I've never seen any two sunrises the same. Each one is different. And it's always spent in silence, whether we are off world or here one Earth. The Colonel once told me, in one of the rare moments that he speaks about himself, that watching the sunrise was like watching the world being born again. Everyday you get to start over and new life is brought into the world. He said that he had seen the sun rise from all over the world. But what made it worthwhile was watching it with people you care about.

We've been out here for over an hour, completely lost in the beauty of it. Our mugs having gone dry some time ago but no one made an attempt to fill them.

"Okay kids, what's for breakfast today?" Colonel O'Neill asked, hoping off the rail.

"Biscuits and gravy with links," Teal'c says, rising to his feet and waiting for the rest of us to answer.

"Scrambled eggs?" I add, looking to Daniel.

"Sounds good to me." He shrugs and grabs his mug as well as mine.

"Okay then. Teal'c, you get links duty. Carter, you do the eggs and Daniel, you get the juice. Oh and please, let's not have a repeat performance of the last time I made biscuits and gravy." With that the Colonel walks into the house behind Teal'c.

"Jaaaaaaaaack!" Daniel called, following the Colonel. Shaking my head, I follow my 'boys' back into the house. I can only imagine what will happen today.
